Erg Chebbi Merzouga Desert

For lovers of silence, this retreat is about breathing in the silence, the infinite, the limitless. It is a journey to our inner self, to our “inner desert”. Among the silences of the desert winds, we wish to share with you the love, peace and respect that we feel in these lands and with this people.

We propose a few days of reconnection, of silence, of peace, not only with our Essence and with Life, but also with the surroundings of unforgettable landscapes, the stars and the light of the desert. Day 1: Welcome to Marrakech

Reception at the airport. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the opportunity to visit the impressive Koutoubia Mosque with its famous minaret and gardens, the souks and the Djemaa El Fna square. In this square we find acrobats, musicians, dancers, water sellers, etc. At night, the square is filled with food stalls, turning into a large open-air restaurant, full of different aromas. Overnight.

Day 2: Marrakech – Tizi-n-Tichka – Ait Benhaddhou – Ouarzazate – Valley of Roses – Valley of Dadès

After breakfast, departure from Marrakech in the morning to cross the High Atlas Mountains. These mountains of the Atlas Mountains are home to the lives of their Berber inhabitants in their small adobe houses. We will pass through one of the gates of the highest mountain of the Atlas, Tizi N’Tichka of 2260m altitude. Stop to enjoy a Moroccan tea, admire the beauty of these mountains and the Berber villages.

We will continue our trip to visit the fortified village of Ait Benhaddhou, the famous kasbah, one of the most exotic and best preserved of the entire Atlas region. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. It is a location of several film productions, serving as a backdrop for more than 20 films, including Lawrence of Arabia, Jewel of the Nile, The Mummy, and The Gladiator, among others. We will continue driving through the village of Skoura, famous for its stunning palm trees and Kasbahs. We will continue to the Valley of the Roses and then to the Dadès Valley (Route of the Thousand Kasbahs) where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the oasis, the palm trees, the Kasbahs and the magnificent landscape of the Middle Atlas.

Day 3: Dadès – Tinghir – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Erg Chebbi Desert

After breakfast, we will pass through the Dadès gorges and continue to the Gorges of Todra, huge fault in the 300m plateau at its narrowest point. Stop to walk, enjoy the cold river water, the rocky landscapes and the scary and beautiful vertical walls. This is a unique place.

We will continue on our way to the town of Erfoud, where we will visit the fossil factories that are more than 380 million years old and see how they work them, transforming them into different objects. Then we will continue our way towards the dunes of Erg Chebbi, where you will be able to see dunes 200 meters high. Arrival at the hotel to enjoy a welcome tea and to arrange accommodations. We will enjoy the rest of the afternoon to contemplate one of the best spectacles on offer: the sunset in the desert. We will admire the changing color of the dunes, walk around, enjoy the silence and the present moment.

Day 4: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi (night in the desert)

Breakfast at the hotel. The morning will be dedicated to the appreciation and experience the silence of the desert. Yoga practice, Pranayama techniques, Meditation, readings. We will also visit the surroundings of Merzouga. A true morning to walk, breathe, reflect, and relax. To be here and now at all times is an invitation to the intensity of the moment.

Lunch at the hotel. After resting and drinking tea, the camels await us to cross the dunes to the camp with Berber tents. We will be able to enjoy the vast expanse of golden sand, the wonderful landscape offered by the sunset in the desert.

The night will be special. We will sleep in the heart of the desert, in the endless nothingness, in nomadic tents just like the Berbers do. We will enjoy a typical dinner, music, fire and appreciate the spirit of the desert with the starry sky and the magic of silence.

Day 5: Erg Chebbi – Khamlia – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi (desert)

After an unforgettable night in the dunes of Erg Chebbi and the land of nomads, you will be able to admire the sunrise.

After returning by camel to Merzouga, free time for a shower and breakfast. We will leave through a road used in the “Paris-Dakar Rally”. We will pass to the other side of the dunes to visit the two oasis of Merzouga, the nomad lands, the village of Khamlia famous for its black African inhabitants, originally from Sudan, and the traditional music called Gnawa. We will also visit the Mifiss mines, the Berber nomads and the Tissadmine oasis. Picnic at the oasis. We will return to the hotel to contemplate the magnificent sunset.

6th day: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi (desert)

Yoga and meditation.

Free day to enjoy the desert, practice, walk, read, contemplate the environment, share with local people. Possibility to visit the Rissani market and the donkey market. We will have a typical Berber pizza for lunch. In the late afternoon we will climb the Great Dune.

Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Tazarine – N’Koub – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

Yoga and/or meditation in the dunes.

After breakfast, departure from the desert through Rissani to Alnif, enjoying the landscapes with acacia trees, similar to the Arizona desert. Arrival in N’Koub, located under the Saghro Mountains, a place with a unique energy. It is a city with 45 kasbahs, founded by the Aït Atta tribe. Lunch.

Cross the Stone Desert to the Draa Valley (so called because of the corn fields in the middle of the palm trees). This is where the Ahratins from Sudan live. We will leave the Draa Valley and its palm groves to continue to Ouarzazate, in order to cross the High Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon. Check in at the hotel.

8th day: Marrakech – Airport

Breakfast and at the agreed time escort to the airport. Depending on the time of your flight, city tour and free time for shopping or to try the hammam. End of the trip and of our services.
